Our Supported Community Living Services are designed to be available to the person on an as-needed basis up to 24 hours per day. These services reflect least restrictive environment possible and the person’s choice of living arrangements and services. People may live alone, or with family, friends, other consumers. They may buy or rent a house, trailer, condominium, or an apartment.
DSI staff support people in a variety of areas: |

- Personal and home skills – assist in developing or maintaining skills for self-care, self-directness, and care of their home.
- Individual advocacy – assist in representing a person’s rights and interests to which people are entitled and to assist in removing barriers to meet their needs.
- Community skills – support people in gaining meaningful relationships with others in the community and having a sense of belonging.
- Personal management skills – assist people with household budgets, meal plans, use of community resources.
- Socialization skills – assist people to develop or maintain self-awareness, self-control, interpersonal, and social skills.
- Communication skills – support people to develop or maintain skills including expressive and receptive skills in verbal and nonverbal language and acquired reading and writing skills.
- Transportation – assist people to travel to carry out life’s activities.
Supported Community Living Services are individualized to meet the person’s needs. |
